The open-throat design provides improved visibility in front of the cutter when working to layout lines, margins, and tight recesses. A fine depth-adjustment mechanism helps set the cutter for repeatable trimming, cleanup, and flat-bottom leveling after saw, chisel, or router work. The square 3/8" cutter shaft helps resist rotation under planing pressure, while the reversible cutter position allows the blade to face the back of the plane for working closer into corners or stopped cuts. The included fence helps guide straight, repeatable cuts along dadoes, grooves, rabbets, and parallel layout lines. A cast iron body with Sapele knobs provides a stable working base and comfortable two-hand control during detailed routing and cleanup work.
