A fine depth-adjustment mechanism helps set the cutter for controlled trimming and leveling after saw, chisel, or router work. The square 3/8" cutter shaft helps resist rotation under planing pressure, while the reversible cutter position allows the blade to face the back of the plane for working closer into corners or stopped cuts.
